We set out on our own adventure this day, heading out to the Arenal volcano, finding ourselves at the Arenal park at the foot of the volcano. Sadly though Arenal was fairly quiet, the occasional rumblings and rocks launched over its side wasn’t nearly as exciting as we had hoped, and with a cloud constantly hanging over the top of the volcano it was hard to see anything. We stopped to walk around the lava flows from a ’91 eruption. As it turns out we more or less came at the wrong time, and the weather has been too poor for us to see, and without any serious rain for a while (rain water cools the top layer of lava and pressure builds up, followed by an eruption). Oh well.
